my journey of giving it all up and moving to buenos aires
when i was looking into making this move, i sought out blogs of others who made the journey before me. i wanted to know how they planned, if they were nervous and how much money they spent. i didn't find too many blogs like this, so i started my own. follow me as a give up a comfortable good american life for an argentine adventure.

OMG! I LOVE Barbie!!! What's in that store???
OMG, that's funny. i actually didn't go in, but now that you mentioned it, i'm curious. sit tight, i'll write another blog post on this. come to think of it, i've never seen a 'barbie' store in the states? have you?
The pink car is so adorable!!!
Yillabean, we have arrived -- yesterday -- and our apartment is on Cervino next to the corner of Godoy Cruz. So far everything is wonderful ... we just spent 1300 pesos on food at Jumbo ... AND IT IS BEING DELIVERED! The hallway in our apartment looks like a lane in a bowling alley. One of these days maybe we will meet? Don and Holly
Welcome to Buenos Aires Donigan!
1300 on food?! Holy cow. I think I spend 70 pesos a week at the grocery store! I've never been to the Jumbo. I need to make a trip there.
Feel free to send me a private message at yillabean@gmail.com. I'd love to meet up for a cup of coffee.
So funny about the Barbie store because I live in Los Angeles but I am now here in Bs.As. (temporarily living here) and there was an article in the L.A. Times that the first Barbie store outside of The U.S. is right here in Bs.As.! Actually, it was on the front page! It mainly talked about how Mattel is testing it out here since in South America & Latin America there is such a Barbie craze! They even have manicures/pedicures for daughter & mother services...funny!
Does anyone know where they are showing the inauguration tomorrow? I heard Sugar Bar in Palermo but I wonder if they will show it live at 2:30 p.m. (our time?) Would love to see it!
Thanks for your comment Debora; your first blog comment too! (I deleted the repeats)
So, that's very interesting what you write, that BA is a Barbie 'testing site'.
When I went over to the store this past Sunday it was closed, but I peeked in the windows to take some photos. I saw that towards the back of the store there is what looks like a cafe?
